All great wisdom traditions point to the knowledge that the essence of our true selves is not any fixed label but the capacity to experience."
This opened up a whole new way of looking at things for me.
It seems maybe that "who am I?" has no set definition... Other than whatever I am experiencing and feeling about that experience at any given moment.
I have always struggled with definitions... I wake up a different person every day, and it made me feel as though I was a chameleon, always changing to suit my surroundings. I think maybe that as long as my core beliefs stay the same, being a chameleon is not a bad thing. It means I am being open minded enough to be comfortable in any situation that does not challenge my core beliefs. There are a few things, however, that I really need to define in my core beliefs.
Heck, I'm not even sure what my core beliefs are, or at least I have never thought to sit down and define them. Therein lies my next goal, I suppose.

And how does one change one's core beliefs, oh seeker of truth and enlightenment?
I'm not sure... but when I sit down and think about it, and change what needs changing (the things that I have been led to believe all these years) it will really bring me closer to being who I was meant to be... There are things that I just accepted as truth that I really don't believe... I have to just let those go...
You are in the comics section for a reason, Jason...
To make the rest of us smile...
I have SBBs "Excavating your Authentic Self", and it helped me a few years ago... I should read it again...
In fact, that book could spawn a few good blog entries... lol
In the past I have tended to wake up every morning as someone new... I didn't have a set core belief system to keep me stable... That is what I am working on.. Figuring out the beliefs that really mean something to me...
Jack, I went to your site, didn't see anyway to contact you or to comment. If you happen to see this drop by and leave me a contact means.
Honey it isn't really learning till you challenge your core beliefs. Challenge them, argue them, debate them, question them, fight them with everything you have. Then and only then can you look at what is left and decide what to keep and what to throw away. What is core today may be left in the dust later on. Things change, do not stagnate in one pool all of your life, that pool may one day dry up and leave you fossilized in the dust.
